We gathered together in July to choose the best dates for this event we are strongly penciling in mid October 17 & 18 2009 as our first choice. After much consideration we all agreed that 2009 might not be the best time to kick off a new show in Nashville. Our partners in Nashville are artists and gallery owners and believe waiting one more year to let the dust settle and do it right the first time out of the gate is important. boulderbrook was eager to get going in 2009 but with some contemplation we were in agreement. When the date is established for October 2010 and applications are available it will be included in a newsletter This will be a be a tremendous event. Nashville has been waiting for this type of event. If you are not on our newsletter list and wish to be informed when this event is ready, email us and ask to be placed on the mailing list.
Our Nashville event is going to be pretty incredible. With the help of Butler Steltemier and some other wonderful people in Nashville we have been developing this show for over two years. We are going to hold this show in the Green Hills Area of Nashville.
We traveled to Nashville in mid-April of 2008 and returned in July of 2009. We have hired a local PR person with a deep art background, she is smart and accomplished and gets it.
You all may not realize that my Rebecca is from Nashville so we have some great ties to the area. We met at a new friends and held a meeting for the festival at their ranch/farm. During the meeting we stacked wood, prepared a cabin for an upcoming wedding ceremony, the cabin was to be the honeymoon suite, really charming and sure to be a great spot for the newlyweds. Emma went swimming in the pond (a lot cooler than the gulf of Mexico) and we stacked some wood. There were a dozen people at this meeting, some were painting woodwork some were setting up tables. At one point during all the work someone said, ‘hey I thought this was supposed to be a meeting for the art festival’ and our gracious host said, “it is”. As we all know there are a couple of different meanings of the word and this meeting was actually a chance to get to meet each other and a chance for them to get to know me and hopefully see that I wasn’t some slacker.
We also got a lot accomplished earlier in the week, the location that we decided upon is terrific. We have developed some great relationships that will create a very successful patron purchasing event and we have some very exciting news that we can’t share with you yet regarding some of our participants.
Nashville National (there may be a name change on the way) was being planned for the Fall of 2008 but after our meetings we all agreed that in order to make this show as successful as Clayton and Cherry Creek, the shows we targeted as our goals, we decided that in Nashville we have to put on the best event from the very beginning. No first year surprises. So we will have an introductory patrons event in the spring and another in the fall to get everything in place for the fall of 2010. Check back here for more information every so often but we will send you info in the newsletter way in advance for this event.
This is going to be a great show in a GREAT location in one of the best demographic locations in Nashville. Our friends in Nashville have been preparing for this event years before they even met me.
Put your 2 cents in by emailing me if you have some input. We want to make the dates fit into your schedule so if you have a preference please state it and give us a reason why.
